The Opportunity
Matilda Cloud is one of the most consequential platforms being built in cloud right now. We help enterprises do what most of them know they need to do but cannot figure out how to do well: assess complex multi-cloud estates, migrate workloads without breaking the business, modernize what is worth modernizing, and run all of it with intelligence baked in. Our platform pairs machine learning with real-time operational data to automate work that has historically required armies of consultants and months of risk.
The market is racing toward AI-augmented cloud operations, and our customers are looking for a partner who can move them through that shift safely and confidently. To do that well, we need a product leader who can shape what we build, why we build it, and how we make it indispensable.
Why This Role Is Different
This is a build-the-future role, not a maintain-the-backlog role. The Director of Product Management at Matilda Cloud will own the product vision across our suite — and the operating discipline of how the PM team works. You will be the creative partner to the VP of Engineering, the strategic partner to the CEO, and the voice of the customer across the company. You will also have the rare opportunity to build the PM function from the ground up, in coordination with an engineering function that is being built in parallel.
You will report to executive leadership, lead a growing PM team, and help define what Matilda Cloud becomes over the next three years — not just what we ship next quarter.
What You Will Own
Product Vision and Creative Leadership
Set the long-range product vision across our suite — where we go, what we add, what we sunset, and where we bet.
Bring a creative, opinionated point of view on the future of cloud migration, modernization, optimization, and AI-driven operations.
Translate the AI-cloud moment into a product strategy that wins — and inspires the team to want to build it.
Represent product in executive, board, customer, and partner conversations with the polish and substance the room expects.
Product Discovery and Customer Strategy
Build a repeatable system for gathering, validating, and synthesizing customer and market input — structured interviews, win/loss analysis, and tight feedback loops with sales and customer success.
Be the voice of the customer inside Matilda Cloud — and build direct relationships with the enterprise customers and prospects who will tell us where we should go next.
Establish a clear methodology for translating customer problems into evidence-backed product opportunities.
Participate in strategic sales conversations, advisory boards, and customer escalations where product context matters.
AI at the Forefront of the Product
Own the strategy for AI-powered capabilities across the platform — where AI creates real differentiation in data-center-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud workflows, and where it does not.
Define how AI features are scoped, validated, measured, and brought to market when outcomes are probabilistic rather than deterministic.
Build a PM team that uses AI as a force multiplier on day one — for requirements drafting, competitive research, customer feedback synthesis, user story generation, and release documentation.
Stay close to the frontier — model releases, agentic patterns, infra shifts — and translate what is real and useful into product moves.
Roadmap, Governance, and Engineering Partnership
Build a multi-horizon roadmap framework — near-term delivery, medium-term strategic, longer-range vision — maintained as a living artifact, not a static deck.
Establish a roadmap review cadence that keeps leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams aligned without slowing execution.
Define prioritization frameworks (RICE, opportunity scoring, or your own) that make roadmap decisions defensible and consistent.
Build a PM-Engineering operating model in partnership with the VP of Engineering — roles, handoffs, shared accountability, and a culture of mutual trust.
Set standards for requirements, acceptance criteria, scope changes, and post-launch reviews that close the loop between what was shipped and what was learned.
Team, Discipline, and Career Growth
Manage, coach, and grow the PM team — onboarding, role expectations, career ladders, and consistent templates that create alignment without stifling judgment.
Build a product culture that earns trust across engineering, sales, and executive leadership through rigor, transparency, and follow-through.
Be a senior, visible leader who other PMs aspire to learn from.
Culture and Diversity
Help us protect what makes Matilda Cloud feel different — high agency, low ego, deep curiosity, and real care for the people on the team.
Hire and grow a PM team that reflects the diversity of thought, background, and experience our customers and our market need.
Model the behaviors of the culture we are building — humility, ownership, kindness, and excellence.
Who You Are
Resumes will tell us part of the story. We are also looking for someone who is:
Energized by hard, ambiguous, important problems — and visibly excited by the opportunity at Matilda Cloud.
A creative product thinker — you see possibilities others miss and bring ideas, not just frameworks.
Customer-obsessed — you have done the interviews, sat in the calls, and have your own informed point of view.
A natural collaborator with engineering — you have the scars and the relationships to prove it.
A growth-mindset leader who treats every quarter as a chance to push the company toward its maximum potential.
A clear, compelling communicator — able to inspire engineers, align executives, and write a crisp product brief in the same week.
Honest, humble, high-agency — you take ownership, tell the truth, and do not wait to be asked.
What You Bring
Required
8+ years in product management, with at least 3 years managing PMs; experience as the most senior PM in an organization is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience building a PM practice from the ground up — the processes, templates, frameworks, and team norms a PM organization runs on.
Enterprise B2B software experience; comfort with long sales cycles, complex stakeholders, and technically sophisticated customers.
Domain fluency in cloud, data center, cloud migration, or adjacent enterprise infrastructure — enough to engage credibly without a long ramp.
Strong command of product discovery — you conduct customer research, not just consume it.
Track record of effective PM-Engineering collaboration that improves both delivery quality and team trust.
Meaningful AI experience in two dimensions: (1) you have defined, prioritized, and shipped AI-powered features in an enterprise context; and (2) you actively use AI tools in your own PM workflow and have a concrete point of view on where they accelerate the function and where they fall short.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to write crisp product briefs, present compelling roadmaps, and hold their own in technical conversations.
Preferred
Experience at a Series A–C or early growth-stage software company; comfort with ambiguity, resource constraints, and building without a safety net.
Familiarity with data center operations, hybrid cloud architecture, or cloud-to-cloud data management workflows.
Experience selecting and rolling out PM tooling (Productboard, Aha!, Linear, Jira) and building adoption around it.
Background working alongside or within a sales-led enterprise GTM motion.
MBA or equivalent experience; the analytical and strategic framing is relevant.
Why Matilda Cloud, Why Now
This role offers something rare: a seat at the table during the most important phase of a company's life, in one of the most important corners of enterprise technology. You will help shape what Matilda Cloud becomes — the product strategy, the PM craft, the team we build, and the customers we win. You will work in close partnership with a VP of Engineering who is raising the bar on engineering practices in parallel, creating a once-in-a-career opportunity to build both functions in coordination.
Competitive base, performance bonus, and meaningful equity in a high-growth company. Hybrid work from our Richardson, TX office. Comprehensive health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and PTO.
How to Apply
Send your resume to careers@matildacloud.com along with a short note describing a PM practice or process you built from scratch and what it measurably changed.
Matilda Cloud is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity, we welcome people from every background and lived experience, and we are committed to building an inclusive environment where every employee can do the best work of their career.
