Information Security and Compliance Engineer (India)
Engineer

Bangalore, India - Remote U.S. Central Time hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST)
|
Full-Time
The Opportunity
Matilda Cloud is one of the most consequential platforms being built in cloud right now. We help enterprises do what most of them know they need to do but cannot figure out how to do well: assess complex multi-cloud estates, migrate workloads without breaking the business, modernize what is worth modernizing, and run all of it with intelligence baked in. Our platform pairs machine learning with real-time operational data to automate work that has historically required armies of consultants and months of risk.
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-driven Information Security & Compliance Engineer to own two critical functions: information security across our entire technical stack, and compliance management. You will help select, install, configure, and manage the software solutions that secure our infrastructure, and you will support every compliance effort the company undertakes. This role is the primary owner for security and compliance issues at Matilda Cloud.
Why This Role Is Different
This is not a respond-to-tickets security job. You will help choose the platforms we run, implement practical processes that improve how Matilda Cloud monitors its environment and responds to events, and drive the changes needed to build a world-class security and compliance capability. You will own the function — the architecture, the tooling, the policies, and the audit relationships — with the visibility that comes from being the person leadership and auditors both rely on.
What You'll Own
Information Security
Serve as the primary owner for security incidents, with IT as backup.
Own security event monitoring — implement the right alerts, respond to events as needed, and automate wherever possible.
Design the information security architecture.
Manage all information security systems.
Identify, define, and document system security requirements.
Create process and training documentation to educate and support all Matilda Cloud security and compliance initiatives.
Write and maintain information security policies, processes, and knowledge-base articles.
Evaluate and select new security and compliance tools.
Compliance Administration
Complete recurring compliance activities to meet our compliance requirements.
Collect evidence for all of Matilda Cloud’s company certifications.
Document and report findings for compliance audits and inspections.
Work with Matilda Cloud leaders and third-party auditors throughout the audit process.
Provide status updates to third-party auditors and Matilda Cloud’s leadership team.
Train staff on all compliance requirements.
Operations & Team Support
Document all work in the ticketing system.
Serve as a backup resource for the local IT team.
Who You Are
An automation-first thinker — if you have to do something twice, you script it.
A systematic troubleshooter who stays calm under pressure — security incidents sharpen your focus rather than rattle it.
A clear communicator who can translate technical detail for engineers, leadership, and auditors alike.
A disciplined documenter — you know that policies, evidence trails, and runbooks are what make a compliance program stand up to scrutiny.
A natural collaborator who works seamlessly across Engineering, Product, Ops, and IT.
Adaptable and eager to grow in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
What You Bring
Required
3+ years of experience working as a security engineer.
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience managing Qualys — this is a must.
3+ years of experience managing cloud environments with at least one major provider — AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud.
2+ years of compliance experience, including evidence collection for ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, or similar certifications.
Strong scripting skills in at least one automation language, with familiarity across scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby).
Knowledge of other information security tools — Splunk, Nagios, Bitdefender, Sophos, NetStumbler, Nmap, etc.
Strong understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong problem-solving and teamwork instincts.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
For remote work: a stable, high-bandwidth internet connection to ensure reliability on customer and partner calls.
Preferred
Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI).
Knowledge of IT systems administration, including Office 365 and Exchange.
Why Matilda Cloud, Why Now
