Senior Cloud Migration Engineer (India)

Engineer

|

India - Remote U.S. Central Time hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST)

|

Full-Time

The Opportunity

Matilda Cloud is one of the most consequential platforms being built in cloud right now. We help enterprises do what most of them know they need to do but cannot figure out how to do well: assess complex multi-cloud estates, migrate workloads without breaking the business, modernize what is worth modernizing, and run all of it with intelligence baked in. Our platform pairs machine learning with real-time operational data to automate work that has historically required armies of consultants and months of risk.

Migration is where that promise gets proven. It is the moment a customer trusts us with the systems their business actually runs on — and the moment our technology has to be matched by an engineer who can execute flawlessly under real-world pressure. This is that role. Based in India and working U.S. Central Time hours, you will be the hands and the judgment behind the platform: the person who turns a customer's on-premises estate into a running, resilient cloud environment.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role for someone who is equally comfortable writing Terraform at 9 a.m. and walking a customer's team through a cutover plan at 4 p.m. You will own the technical relationship, do the automation yourself, and be the calm, credible presence customers rely on when their operations are on the line.

Why This Role Is Different

Most migration jobs are ticket work — someone hands you a runbook and you execute a slice of it. This is not that. At Matilda Cloud you own the migration, not a fragment of it: you master the tools that accelerate the effort, lead the technical conversation with the customer, write the infrastructure code that moves their workloads, and stay in the seat through the incidents and cutovers that decide whether a migration succeeds or hurts.

You will work directly with customers in the U.S. market, partnering with development, management, and customer success rather than sitting behind them. When something breaks during a cutover, you are the person the customer looks to. That level of ownership is rare this early in a career — and it is exactly how our best engineers grow fast.

What You'll Own

  1. Customer-Facing Technical Delivery

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers in the U.S. time zone, working an 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST shift and being genuinely present when your customers are.

  • Master the Matilda Cloud application stack — how it functions, where it accelerates a migration, and how to demo it — and deliver customer demos and platform overviews with confidence.

  • Lead technical discussions with partners and customers: communicate implementation prerequisites, guide installations, and design landing zones for the customer's future operating environment.

  • Establish and maintain strong customer relationships, running regular reviews to assess needs, resolve challenges, and make progress visible.

  1. Migration Engineering & Automation

  • Migrate on-premises data center workloads to two or more major cloud providers — AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP — with demonstrated command of the tradeoffs between them.

  • Write Infrastructure as Code in Terraform to provision cloud resources cleanly and repeatably.

  • Build automation with Terraform, PowerShell, and Bash to handle the ad hoc work every real migration demands.

  • Troubleshoot network, performance, and system issues across the migration lifecycle, and know the difference between a workaround and a fix.

  1. Incident Leadership & Cutover Ownership

  • Represent Matilda Cloud as the technical point of contact during major migration incidents, coordinating across inter- and intra-company migration teams to protect the customer's operations through cutover phases.

  • Proactively identify, track, and escalate issues to the right resources or managers so nothing stalls silently.

  • Pull in subject matter experts when the situation calls for it — knowing when to escalate is a strength, not a weakness.

  1. Being the Customer's Voice Inside Matilda

  • Advocate for customer needs internally, influencing product direction and service offerings with what you learn in the field.

  • Translate recurring customer friction into signal the product and engineering teams can act on.

  • Bring a point of view: you are close enough to the work to know what would make the next migration faster, and we want to hear it.

Who You Are

  • A hands-on migration engineer — you have moved real workloads to the cloud and have the scars and the wins to show for it.

  • Multi-cloud fluent — you are credible across at least two of AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP, and you can reason about when to use which.

  • An automation-first thinker — your instinct is to codify with Terraform and script the toil away, not click through a console.

  • Calm under pressure — cutovers and incidents bring out your best, not your worst.

  • A strong communicator — you can hold a technical conversation with a customer's architects and explain a plan to their leadership in the same call.

  • Customer-obsessed and high-agency — you take ownership, tell the truth about risk, and do not wait to be asked.

  • Comfortable on a U.S. Central Time schedule from India, with a stable, high-bandwidth connection for reliable customer and partner calls.

What You Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience as a Migration or Delivery Engineer in cloud / SaaS environments.

  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies specific to two or more of the major providers: AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP.

  • Hands-on experience writing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and automation with PowerShell and Bash.

  • Strong understanding of container technologies and CSP orchestrators (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, OKE, GKE).

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo) and general network and server administration.

  • Fluency in English and Hindi; fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, an analytical mindset, and experience working with a CRM.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment on a U.S. Central Time shift, with a stable, high-bandwidth internet connection.

Preferred

  • Cloud certifications across AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.

  • Demonstrated accomplishments migrating enterprise workloads from on-premises data centers to multiple cloud providers.

  • Experience partnering closely with development, management, and customer success teams in a delivery capacity.

  • Exposure to modern AI-assisted engineering and troubleshooting workflows.

Why Matilda Cloud, Why Now

This role offers something rare for an engineer: real ownership of customer migrations at a company in the right market at the right moment, with a platform and a technical bar worth the effort. You will not be handed a fragment of someone else's runbook — you will own the migration end to end, master tooling that genuinely accelerates the work, and grow fast because the stakes and the trust are real.

Competitive compensation and inclusive benefits. A remote, India-based role on a U.S. Central Time schedule, working directly with U.S. customers. A supportive, innovation-driven culture that treats field engineers as the people who make the platform's promise real — because you are.

How to Apply

Send your resume to careers@matildacloud.com along with a short note answering two questions: (1) Describe a data center-to-cloud migration you delivered end to end — the providers, the tooling, and what you would do differently next time. (2) When a cutover started going wrong, what did you do?

Matilda Cloud is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity, we welcome people from every background and lived experience, and we are committed to building an inclusive environment where every employee can do the best work of their career.
